Hello All!
I am changing sites. I have a new blog site! Very exciting! Hopefully more functional than this site has been. So I am just letting you know... you'll be able to find me and all my ideas, thoughts, musings, tips on family life, boys, books and ofcourse Bookclub4boys.com on my new blog site: www.boysandballsbouncingoffthewalls.blogspot.com.
The title of the site is "Boys and Balls Bouncing Off theWalls". I know a l-o-n-g name! Could I have made it any longer?
But I wanted a place to share all my ideas. (Not just about books.) So come check it out!
ALSO- you'll notice I'm not going to be using the real identities of my children on my new blog site. I think this extra step- will help protect my kids' identitiy. I still want to "keep it real" since the ideas on my site are inspired by them- real kids.
I am sure you understand- even if I can't type a complete thought right now.
I am so excited- some friends and I have started a 2 year old play-group swap.. and I get an hour and half/ twice a week- KID FREE!! So I only have a few more minutes left before I pick him up.
I've spent my hour and 25 minutes working on the new site. Hope you like it better!

Hatrick has just started school. He is sooo excited. Actually- this past week was so busy. Everyone back to school, and everyone wanting to start their book clubs. I told you, I over hear Hatrick say to his older brothers, "When I learn how to read I get my OWN book club!"
What a great family tradition. I'm glad that is something he is looking forward to.
But that's not what I wanted to share.
Hatrick has a habit of hacking/snorting/clearing his throat- repeatedly. I don't know why he does it. I think maybe it "tickles" the back of his throat? But it sounds gross- especially if there is any flem to be hacked. (Okay- maybe I'm getting too graphic.) But he does it all the time! So we are trying to work with him on it.
"It's okay to do once or twice if something is bothering you in your throat. Maybe goto the bathroom and clear your throat- so you can spit out the flem, etc.. But in school you cannot do it over and over again- it's very ...... (what's a good word to use)... distracting." I try to explain.
At dinner we were talking about how everyone's first week of school went and Hatrick reported proudly, "You can do that in school! My teacher just asked, ' Are you Okay!?" It was too funny to hear him impersonate his teacher.
I said, "I'm sure she did! You sound like you're coughing up a lung."
I don't know what to do - it's gross.
I can relate to annoying habits. Growing up I use to have an annoying habit. I use to stick my finger in my ear and wiggle it. ( My mom, sister, roommates, spouse- all say I looked a bit derranged when I did it. For a long time, I thought I might slowly be loosing my hearing. Some of my deaf friends say that is a tell-tale sign to eventual hearing loss.)
Anyway- my ears would ring/tickle and bug me. It wasn't until we moved to Hawaii- that I figured out it was allergies! Because they don't ring/tickle here. Last time we visited California it happened again and I realized- I haven't wiggled my ears in a long time! Strange allergic reaction- no? I mean, the runny nose- eyes- sneezing etc.. that is all expected, but ringing/tickling ears.. I've never hear of it. As soon as we stepped off the plane, back to Hawaii- I noticed my ears were fine- but my EYES starting itching! I have eye allergies in Hawaii and ear allergies on the mainland. STRANGE.
I want you to feel confident and know that all the information here on BC4B.com is true and reliable.
This morning I woke up. Checked my emails and noticed I had a message from my sister titled, "You Big Liar!".
"Hmm", I thought. This a bit odd. She lives millions of miles away. She also just had a baby- so our last phone conversation was mostly about new baby sweetness. I couldn't think what I had said or done to get such a repremand. :0)
Her message simply said, "I'VE NEVER EVEN READ TALE OF DESPERAUX!"
I laughed- she reads my blog. Even amid new -baby -sleep -deprivation mode, she reads my blog.
So rest assured- you never have to worry about the quality of content on this site. I have people in place to make sure I stay on the up-and-up!
Someone has recommended this book to me. Last year during the month all my groups were reading books about MICE. I was looking for a book for my Literary Circle group (boys 10 yrs and up). Our Book Club group (1-3rd grade reading level.) was reading Geronimo Stilton books and someone recommended Tale of Desperaux for the older boys. We ended up reading Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIHM. ( A book I think my sister had recommended. :0) I just thought the boys would enjoy reading a book about Lab rats that become super smart and start their own underground civilization. (PLUS there is a movie- and this group loves to watch movies for their reward.)
I'm glad we didn't read it last year- because THIS year the movie is being released. PERFECT timing for my Literary Group! I'm serious. You would think my kids never get to watch a movie. I don't understand it- but they really think this is some big treat- to have their friends over for a movie night- (Oh, yeah- talk about the book too.)
ANYWAY- I just wanted to make that correction. :0)
